Hey everybody!

Welcome to the new adventures of Louise in Belfast!

I’ll start at the beginning (makes it easier, I reckon).

A couple of days ago, I found out I can talk to my laptop. I can open and close applications by just saying so. And even better, I can dictate stuff and the computer just writes it down! But that can only be used in English and only when I am being serious (otherwise the sentences the computer makes will only make you laugh even more!). But I think it’s a nice tool to help you write essays.

Wednesday was a very relaxing day. I had nothing to do and didn’t really feel like doing anything. All I really did was go to the discussion of Divided Societies, and that didn’t take more than 15 minutes, so I had a nice day.
Thursday was really busy. I overslept, so I missed a class (can happen to anyone!). In the afternoon we had our first Irish class. Language and dance. It was really fun. We learned to say ‘hello’ ‘ goodbye ‘ how are you’ and other stuff like that in Irish. And I have to say Irish is a very difficult language. It doesn’t really say what you would read.

The dance part was even more fun (or craic as the Irish say). We learned to dance ‘The Waves of Tory’. And it’s a typical Irish dance, what you would expect. Jumping and hopping, just like Riverdance!

In the evening we could show people what we learned. It was Irish Night at St Mary’s. Irish Stew, Irish music, dancing and a lot of other Irish stuff. At the start of the evening we mostly just listened to the music and talked a bit. The Danish people sang a song and at the end of the evening so did we, the Dutch people. We sang a song I really didn’t know, but it was fun to just stand there and pretend you know what you’re doing.
We also danced. The fun part was that we hadn’t learned an ending to the dance yet, so when we started doing the waves, we just kept on going.

Friday was also loads of fun! We decided to go ice skating in Dundonald in the ‘Ice Bowl’. I didn’t actually skate, but I made a home-video like film about the Greek girls (and the others) that had their first time on the ice. The film turned out really great. It’s called ‘Greek On Ice’ and it lasts about 13 minutes.

When we decided to go home, I realized I lost my ticket, so I ‘borrowed’ Nicole’s. Thanx! She gave it to me in secret, behind the other people’s backs.

We also had a visitor during the evening. It was the daughter of the previous owner of the house. She just drove by and decided to buy back the house some time next year. She just wanted to see if it was how she remembered it. And it was! Exactly how she remembered it. Our landlord hadn’t changed anything. The only he did was place two radiators in the living room.
Today we are going to have a Greek evening. The rest of the day I am planning to do… not much.

As you noticed this is a lot shorter than the Dutch version, but I didn’t really feel like translating everything, sorry about that.

Till next time!

Louise

    Mik:

    hello darling,

I'm glad things are going better. I was really feeling sad that you were not feeling well. And I could not help you, give you a hug or a kiss. I will kiss you and hug you a lot when I am there.
Can not wait to see you again.

    greetings, kisses and hugs
    mik
